 ABOUT

MY BEAUTY JOURNEY

Take your biggest challenge and dive deep! For me, this was hair cutting. A love for all things beautiful and a flare for human connection led me to a career in the beauty industry in 1999. I fell in love with all aspects of styling and throughout the first ten years, built a clientele on skills I had developed through experience and my own creativity. As a colorist, these skills came fairly naturally but found haircuts to be my biggest challenge. Until one class changed everything… Myself and a coworker attended a Dry Cutting class at DiPietro Todd in San Francisco. Until then, cutting classes always involved a mannequin head and a specific trendy haircut but this class at DPT was about tailoring, creating, seeing the hair in it’s uniqueness and it was on live models with swirls and cowlicks and opinions and I fell in love with the art of creating the perfect haircut. It was a career changing moment.

My cuts have now become the star of the show! A good haircut is nuanced and tailored. Each section of your hair has it’s own personality and should be addressed with skill and precision in order to enhance beauty and create balance resulting in a style that is effortless and lasts for months. Hot tools should be used for slight finishing, or to change things up, not out of necessity. The foundations of good hair lie in the haircut, not the clients ability to style it. A good haircut works synergistically with your color, one showing off the other. A good hair cut makes every day a good hair day.
